Learning to See: Drawing as a Tool for Coping**
Mondays 10 am – 1 pm, 1/25/10 – 3/22/10 or Tuesdays 10 am – 1 pm, 1/26/10 – 3/23/10,
(no class held 2/15 or 2/16), $114
Drawing sessions for adults that “can't draw a straight line”. You’ll learn contour drawing
and gain knowledge of brain function as it relates to visual processing of information. This
class is a good way to jump-start your artistic development. Methods used are influenced by
Dr. Betty Edwards, Kimon Nicolaides and Robert Ault. Ms. Wilson teaches you to see as
artists see. Results may include an enhanced repertoire of coping strategies to positively
impact mental well-being. Taught by Judy Wilson, MEd, 30 years as a professional artist, 15
of them developing and facilitating arts programming for youth and adults.
Creative Insights – The Art of Coping with Grief and Loss**
Thursdays 10 am – 12 noon 2/25/10 – 3/18/10, $75
Sessions employ creative processes and methods to strengthen participants’ ability to
harness personal resources that are often overlooked as we struggle with loss and grief.
Join us to gain understanding of what those resources are and how to access them as you
journey through the struggle. “We all know that grief is about losing. We need to know that
it can also be about growing.” – Bob Diets – Life After Grief; Ages 18+; Co-Facilitators Judy
Wilson, MEd, 30 years professional artist, 15 of them developing and facilitating arts
programming for youth and adults and Lou Thorsby, MA, LLPC, specializing in grief
counseling for individual and groups in a variety of settings.
Altered Book** – Advanced
January 10th, 1-4 pm $55
Blanca LaVack will teach techniques to create beautiful pages in your altered book. Learn
basic and advanced skills in these two workshops. Personalize your book with your own
ephemera and take home a kit to continue your creativity! Advanced registration required.
Art Journaling**
Fridays January 29 – February 19, 10 am - 1 pm; $40, plus $8 material fee;
Students will learn techniques using visual images, collage, altered art and written
journaling, to set intentions for our future. Emphasis will be on process not product. Writing
or artistic experience not required to learn techniques – just have an openness to play and
experiment. Taught by Sue Nimlin, retired occupational therapist and lifelong artist.
Adult Acrylic and Mixed Media**
Fridays January 29 – March 12, 1 pm - 3:00 $42, materials not provided;
Let yourself go and experiment with realism or abstract techniques. Paint on paper or
canvas, use any and all materials and develop your creativity and imagination. Materials not
provided – some painting experience helpful. Taught by Carolyn Masnari, art educator with
15 years experience and professional artist of 30 years.
Faux Stained Glass Painting**
Wednesdays 1-3:30, 1/27/10 – 2/3/10, $25, glass not included;
Two day seminar on faux stained glass techniques – nouveau to modern. Simple designs
take flight with your imagination; create different looks, Tiffany textures and swirls, in a
fraction of the time of traditional stained glass techniques. Participants are required to
purchase glass from the studio or bring their own. Taught by Kathy Cassell, professional
artist with several years experience.

Open Studio – provides opportunities for participants to form creative partnerships and
mentoring relationships while exercising their creativity. Define and pursue personal goals
with artistic and personal expression as vehicles. These accomplishments often positively
impact seemingly unrelated areas of their lives like personal well-being, career direction,
education and spirituality. Tues – Fri 12:30-3:30, Thurs evening 6:30–9:30, Sat 1-3; $5
including most materials; all ages
Saturday Circle – on hiatus until further notice
weekly two-hour sessions devoted to those who dance to the beat of a different drum.
Through art, participants imagine and re-imagine their past, present, and future in a mutually
supportive environment. They explore how they are creative and how that creativity may
work for them in all areas of their lives -- decision-making, family life and career crossroads.
Participants feel encouraged by the resulting healthy attitude. Saturdays, 10-12 pm, $5
including most materials; all ages
Quilter’s Collective – a weekly drop-in quilting group; bring your own materials, share and
learn from other quilters. Thursdays 1-3 pm, $3; all ages

Recycled Light Class
Saturdays 3-5:30 $48, some materials not included;
Students will sculpt an artistic lighting shell by recycling an old light fixture. Students will
explore various techniques and materials and will experience the advantages using
combined methods over individual ones; emphasis on sustainable, environmentally-friendly
approaches to making art. Taught by Chang-hee Park, professional artist and art therapy
intern.

Youth Art Express**
January 12 – March 9th Tuesdays 4-5:30, ages 11 and older; $70, materials included;
These classes will challenge student artists of all abilities to create and complete
exceptional drawings & paintings along with other fine art processes such as printmaking
and design. Our highly trained staff will assist students working toward building portfolios
and give guidance to those whose goals are personal enjoyment. Taught by Katie Serewicz,
art educator with over 20 years experience with all populations.
Youth Art Express**
January 21st – March 18th, Thursdays 4:30-5:45, ages 6-10; $54, materials included
Younger artists in our “Kreative Kids” classes, ages 6-10 years old will enjoy Thursday
afternoon creative games, art activities & fine arts training using a variety of artist medium.
We will stress principle of art along with self-expression. Taught by Katie Serewicz, art
educator with over 20 years experience with all populations.
Come Celebrate Winter**
Tuesdays 1/5/10 – 1/26/10 10 am – 11:30, $40
Participate in this 4-week celebration of winter with your child. Spend quality time together
playing games, art activities, and a story each week. Art supplies and snacks provided.
Ages 3-5 accompanied by a significant adult; additional siblings $30. Taught by Ester
Mauricio, LBSW, MS, experienced artist.
